This is the best tire & wheel assembly we could find for this application. Made by Carefree Tire, this foam filled,  puncture proof tire will never go flat. The following is from the Carefree Tire web site: Unlike solid rubber or solid urethane tires, a Carefree Tire provides an “air cushioned” ride without adding any significant weight. As a result, not only will a Carefree Tire last four to ten times longer than a similar pneumatic tire, but require up to 40% less effort to roll. Bearings are pre-greased and double sealed.  Rhino Tool Systems uses stainless steel axles to prevent rust, so no grease is needed. Grease attracts abrasive grit and makes it messy to slide a wheel on and off an axle.   Knobby tread. Color is black. Size is 4.80/4.00-8. Ball bearings. 

The manufacturer’s rated load capacity per tire & wheel assembly is 670 pounds, but we are only rating individual wheel capacity at 400 pounds until we have extensive customer feedback of satisfactory, long term performance with individual wheel loadings well in excess of 400 pounds.

Installed as a single wheel inside the frame on a short axle or as double wheels outside the frame on a long axle. For very heavy loads or better floatation on soft ground and packed snow, three wheels may be installed on a long axle.

Rugged, curved, section of corrugated, double walled, plastic highway culvert. Heavy, reinforced rubber tabs hold the shield in place on the universal frame with a friction fit, yet allow quick removal without tools.

These lighter weight, but more rugged culverts are now preferred by highway departments over the heavy, galvanized steel culverts that were previously used.  They absorb impacts, maintain their color even if scratched, and do not rust.

These wheel shields are made from new highway culverts, but because they are rugged and made to take abuse, they are just dumped off the delivery trucks.  Thus they may be slightly scuffed and in some cases dirty.  However, with hard use on a Rhino they will stay looking much better than powder coated steel.

Structural steel pipe stepped down to from 1.66″ (4.2 cm) diameter to 1.32″ (3.35 cm) diameter pipe then to 1″ (2.54 cm) solid round to provide ample strength for severe duty levering of rock, debris and more.  Hole near large end accepts a quick attach pin (detent pin).  Smaller end is bent slightly upward and ground flat to allow good penetration under objects and good support/balance to objects that are lifted.  Powder coated red. Detent pins included.

Insert into the two front sockets of the universal frame and secure with quick attach pins. The paired pry bars make it much easier to lever up an object without it flopping to one side or the other as is common with other levers.  May be used with single, double, or triple wheel configurations of the RTS.

The rugged clamp arm is formed from paired, 3/4″ square steel recurved bars spaced 2″ apart with a large curve on one end and a smaller curve on the other.  A double slide/lock ring nearer the end of the clamp arm with the smaller curve allows it to be easily moved up and down on a vertical pipe.  The clamp arm can be positioned anywhere on the vertical pipe, facing any direction and either side up.  The vertical pipe pins to the front of the universal frame with two bolts with wing nuts that come inserted into the vertical pipe bracket.  Use the bolts and wing nuts, not detent pins.   The combination of the clamp arm and the vertical pipe constitutes the clamp assembly.

The clamp assembly is used to clamp and hold large, awkward objects that are being carried on the pry bars.  While the clamp arm can be easily moved up and down, it will self lock in any position on the vertical pipe and thus clamp a load. Releasing the lock is accomplished simply by pulling up on one end of the clamp.  Due to its self locking nature, it sometimes requires knocking the clamp loose with a mallet or hammer. The clamp arm may be rotated or flipped to provide 3 choices of grip:  long hook, short hook, and long flat.  If an object is too large to be accommodated by the height of the vertical pipe, one or two front extension pipes are added to extend the length.  Extensions are not included and may be purchased separately.

Hex headed bolt with 3/8″-16 thread.  Zinc plated.

Bolts and wing nuts are supplied with the appropriate components and only need to be ordered as spares or replacements.  These bolts are also readily available at hardware stores.  10 mm diameter x 75 mm long bolts with matching wing nuts can be used.

These bolts may be used to attach the clamp arm in place to prevent bending the arm while prying heavy objects.  Also used with the trailer hitch to the universal frame, since detent pins might jiggle out at faster towing speeds.
