Rock Hauler Review

I received my Rock Hauler a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve been thoroughly impressed. It arrived early, was well-packaged, and assembly was very straightforward.

I’m in the process of rebuilding a dry Japanese-style rock garden on my one-acre property. Over the years I’ve accumulated a lot of rocks and boulders scattered throughout the yard, and my plan was to move many of them into the garden and arrange them in a traditional style. I had considered renting equipment like a Dingo, but the time pressure and the need to get my money’s worth made me hesitate.

While searching online, I came across the Rock Hauler—and it turned out to be exactly what I needed. With this tool, I can work at my own pace, make thoughtful decisions, and take as long as the project requires.

As soon as it arrived, I got to work and moved three of the largest and heaviest boulders on my property. There was a bit of a learning curve, but I have experience moving heavy objects, and I enjoy the challenge of using leverage effectively. I’m also a metal sculptor who builds large pieces, so I’m used to figuring out how to handle weight. Even so, at 67 years old and not the strongest guy around, I was impressed by how manageable it was to move stones I estimate to be 400–500 pounds each.

I experimented with adjusting the counterweight system, which made lifting even easier. I also purchased the accessory that allows my Exmark mower to pull the cart—a must-have, in my opinion. While the Rock Hauler can be pushed or pulled by hand, soft ground and grass make it much easier to tow.

The engineering of this tool is outstanding. I’ve used Dingos and skid steers before, and while they’re powerful, they can really tear up a yard. The Rock Hauler gives me the capability I need without the mess. I can already see so many future uses for it, and honestly, I doubt I’ll ever sell it.

I think we love it. We'll be able to do more in the Spring; but this seems like the right tool for our plans of moving large stones to improve drainage in a wetlands area of our yard.

This cart is an absolute beast. I've had it just over a week now and moved SEVERAL boulders with is. I and ordered the 3rd wheel with the cart and glad I did. Cart is easy to breakdown for transport, (I did this when hauling a load of boulders and needed more room in the trailer). Overall super happy with it and well worth the money. I have used tractors and heavy equipment to move boulders in the past but now I can do most by hand with the Rhino. Wish I had this years ago!

Much more difficult to move heavy stone than expected. Also size of stone is very limited by length of forks and claw. Attachment for lawn tractor was absolutely necessary. Could not have done the job without it.

This is an exceptionally well-built tool. Everything about it speaks of high-end quality. Buy once in a lifetime.
This is a mechanical lever on wheels. Works for up to medium sized boulders. When reaching weight and size limits, its best to have two people working it — one to push down, the other to push or pull a direction. I moved my largest stone with calculated effort. Everything smaller with confident ease. Be prepared for use with gloves and shoes with solid grip. Plan your path.
I started researching this tool when it was the Wheeled Hand Tool System. I’m glad Rhino Tool Systems picked up the banner. Since this is a lifetime tool, upfront cost is higher, but worth it, especially if you have many landscape stones to arrange in your yard or property. No rental time limit. Work at your own pace.
